Exanthem Subitum

Abstract
During the_five-year period from 1959 to 1964 the authors observed 61 cases of exanthem subitum clinically as well as by means of blood count.
The frequency was highest at the age of 6 to 8 months, and seasonally in September. The youngest were two one-month old cases, and little difference in incidence was noticed¢¥in terms of sex.
Clemens and Nagayama reported enanthems separately, which they said were helpful for the early diagnosis of this disease, but not all our cases showed such enanthems.
As for the blood picture, striking leucopenia with relative lymphocytosis was observed between the third and fifth day of the illness, during which period skin rashes appeared.
In this series, three cases of convulsive attack were observed, but they never showed any sequels resulting from disorder of the central nervous system.
